Carol Dean Plewe Scott
April 27, 1941 – July 11, 2026
Holladay, UT - Carol Dean Plewe Scott, age 85, of Holladay, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by loving family members and friends who came to express their love and wish her farewell.
Carol was born on April 27, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Herbert and Sally Plewe. She was the second of four children and grew up in the family home on South Temple.
From an early age, Carol was actively involved in her father's successful construction company. She learned the importance of hard work and was never afraid to get dirty or do whatever was needed to finish a job. While other teenagers were driving the family sedan around town, Carol could often be seen driving dump trucks to and from construction sites.
She could handle a hammer, chop saw, drill, and paintbrush with the best of them. Those skills served Carol and her family throughout her life as she remodeled homes, built sheds, constructed a garage, and completed hundreds of other projects in her home and neighborhood. She was also an accomplished seamstress whose creativity and attention to detail were evident in everything she made.
Carol's talents, resourcefulness, and entrepreneurial spirit led her to start several businesses throughout her life. Among them were a custom closet company and Carol Scott & Associates, through which she provided interior design and home decorating services. Whether she was building, sewing, designing, or decorating, Carol had a remarkable ability to envision what something could become and then bring that vision to life.
Carol graduated from East High School in 1959, and attended the University of Utah. In 1961, she married the love of her life, Steven Jeffrey Scott. Together, they raised four wonderful children and established their family home in Holladay.
In 1977, at the young ages of 36 and 35, Steve and Carol were called to preside over and serve in the Canada Vancouver Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They moved their young family to British Columbia, where they served for three years.
That experience provided a foundation of gospel service and testimony that has blessed our family for generations. Those years also gave Carol countless opportunities to learn, grow, and influence the lives of people throughout British Columbia. Her reliance upon and trust in the Holy Ghost were strengthened during that time, and she never wavered in her commitment to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Following their service in Canada, Carol continued to serve faithfully in dozens of Church responsibilities. She served as a Relief Society president and committee member, Young Women president and adviser, Primary president and teacher, Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout den leader, ministering sister, and building cleaning coordinator-a calling she truly loved.
In addition to fulfilling her own responsibilities, Carol faithfully supported and sustained Steve as he served as a bishop, stake president, and stake patriarch. Whatever the calling, Carol approached it with the same humility, energy, and wholehearted devotion. Through her example, she taught her children that no opportunity to serve was too small or unimportant.
Carol also had a deep love for her country and community. She was an informed citizen and devoted voter, and when she felt local leaders were not listening to residents, she decided to do something about it. In 2009, she ran for the Holladay City Council, walking door-to-door throughout her district-often with grandchildren in tow. She advanced through the primary to the general election but fell just 130 votes short of winning. Carol always remained proud that she had taken on something so difficult, stood up for her neighbors, and made her voice heard.
The only thing that rivaled Carol's love for the Savior was her love for her family. Every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild knew without question that they were loved unconditionally by Grandma Carol.
Several of her grandchildren had the opportunity to live with Carol and Steve during transitional times in their lives. Others worked beside her on one of the many projects she undertook. Whether she was teaching, serving, building, sewing, listening, or simply spending time with them, Carol made each member of her family feel important and loved.
Carol also expressed her love through the thousands of chocolate-chip cookies she made throughout her life-usually five dozen at a time-for family members, missionaries, neighbors, and friends. She never really stopped working, but when she did slow down, she could be found watching one of her favorite Esther Williams movies, listening to Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, or The Four Freshmen, or taking a quick catnap on the couch before finding more work to do.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Steve; their four children, Jeff (Carolyn), Stephanie (Steve), Christine (Rod), and Spencer (Catherine); 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her influence and legacy will continue to be felt throughout the generations of the family she loved so deeply.
All of us were changed for the better because of her love, her service, and her unwavering testimony.
Carol will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Even as we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is preparing the way for the rest of us to join her again someday, reunited as an eternal family in God's great Plan of Happiness-truly her greatest wish.
Funeral services will be held in her honor Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View 9th Ward Gundersen Lane Chapel-1925 E. Gundersen Lane, Holladay, UT 84124.

Cathy Lee lived in Victoria, then in Kamloops, where she was baptized in about March of 1983. Does anyone know what happened to her or where she might be? She would be in her late fifties by now.

Bob passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013. He was born in Salt Lake City on December 9, 1923, the eldest son of Clarence Henry and Emma CharlotteWirthlin Hill. Bob spent the first 3 years of his life in Salt Lake City until his family moved to Washington D.C., where his father got a job working for the U.S. Treasury Department.
Bob graduated from Central High School in 1943, where he excelled in all sports. His favorite sport was baseball and his love of this played a major role in the rest of his life.
He attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1944 for 2 years. Bob chose to leave to play professional baseball. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies where he played on their farm team for about 5 years. During this time he attended Muhlenberg College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in June, 1949.
He met his wife, Jean Bennion, at a church activity in Washington D.C. They drove cross-country to marry in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 6, 1950. After several injuries he decided to quit playing baseball and joined the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). In 1952, while working for the FBI he attended Georgetown University in the evening where he graduated in 1956 with his JurisDoctorate. In 1957, he stopped working for the FBI to move to Eugene, Oregon to practice law, where they raised their family for 35 years. While in Eugene he held many church positions: Scouting Commissioner, High Councilor, Counselors in a Stake Presidency and then as the Stake President in 1972. In 1982 he was released and was ordained as a Patriarch.
In 1988, they relocated to Orem, Utah to live near their son Brett and daughter Julie and her family. No sooner had they moved into their Orem home when he was called to serve as the mission president of the Vancouver, British Columbia mission. After their mission they retired to Cedar Valley, Utah.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife: Jean Bennion Hill and 3 sons, Brett, Andrew and Bruce and one daughter, Carolyn. Through all this loss he still taught everyone around him the true meaning of spreading the love of Christ, enduring to the end and of course the fact that families can be together forever. He is survived by his daughter Julie (Hill) Myers, a son-in-law David Myers, a granddaughter Emma Jean “Little Rascal”Myers, a sister Marjorie Smith and a brother Marvin Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
He loved the gospel, his family and friends unconditionally and baseball!
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Saturday 11:45-12:45 pm. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery. Please leave online messages and condolences at www.larkinmortuary.com.

President Stewart A. Durrant, aged 95, peacefully passed away at his home December 6, 2008. He joins his wife Leola, who passed away on Easter, 2007. Milton L. Weilenmann, first president of the Alaskan-Canadian Mission passed away today. His funeral will be on 11/26/08 at 12:00 noon at 135 N. "A" St., SLC. A viewing will be held one hour before the service, as well as the previous evening. Arrangements by Larkin Mortuary.

I'm trying to find Jerry Lyons, me and my companion ( Elder Peck) baptized him in the
second ward on May 25th 1983 .Bro. Chuck Loveday ( a ward member and great guy)was
responsible for introducing Jerry to us. Some of the other members involved in Jerry's
baptism were, Clifford Stutter.Cindy Smith, Gary Smith, Shawna Hett,Wendy Stratton and
another member and good friend and also resent convert Wendi Laundry he had a sister
living in the ward that was inactive at the time. I can't remember her name. If any one

Need help as soon as possible - especially seeking Elder Anderson and/or Elder Gorum. I could be spelling them wrong. They served in Port Alberni around March of 1983 ish. The records for brother Tatoosh are gone. We need to know when he was baptized and when he recieved the priesthood. They are trying to do his work since his younger son is getting ready to go on a mission. They are getting Bro T to be sealed to his wife. This needs to happen as quick as possible. b.t.w .. those who served before and after enjoyed Gail and Bonnie Bigelow. I understand that Gail passed away during childbirth. I just wanted to share with everyone on here that I got to see Ross and his brother Rhett perform a WONDERFUL musical tribute to Joseph & Hyrum Smith in Springdale, Utah (just outside of Zions National Park).
The amazing thing about the whole production is that Ross was inspired to write the words and music while serving in the Canada Vancouver Mission. The spirit is strong and the performance is VERY touching!
Ross and his brother Rhett are VERY talented and IF you get the chance to see them perform, I STRONGLY suggest you do!

My wife & I are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary this year on November 30. I am trying to surprise her with greetings from friends and family congratulating her on 50 years of putting up with me, haha.
