Elder McDonald and myself were doing a wonderful deed and serving others the other day. It was long, hard, tedious work in which was of great help to the wonderful Brinkerhoff family. After much laboring we excused ourselves to pick up a copy or two of the latest issue of Newsweek in which the church had been chosen as the cover story. In standing in line Elder McDonald purchased his copy and I soon followed. The checkout lady then commented, "Mormons", referring to the title on the cover of the magazine, "I'm a Mormon!" Dumbfounded I replied, "Really? Where?"
"California. Not here in Kansas. I am just going to school here now."
"Do you want to go to church?"
"Sure. I am busy with Volleyball but afterwards maybe."
It was something that caught us off guard a little including the fact that we were still in our service clothes. We continued to let her know more on the church and that we were the missionaries here in Dodge City. We got her name and number and we plan on getting her back to church and asking her for referrals of her friends that we may be able to teach.
What a great story and experience. That is why it is important to always play the part every second of the day. We could have been buying coffee. Have a great day. Love the Lord's missionaries. |
