Presidents: Louis Latimer (1970 - 1973) | | Served: 1970 - 1972 | Areas Served: Quito 3, Guayaquil 4, Ibarra, Quito 3 as branch president, Guayaquil 1 as ZL, Quito Norte as ZL, office as AP | Companions: James M. Bird | Morris Linton | | Spouse: Kristine Cook | Comments: I was actually called to Chile. Just before I entered the LTM, the communists took control of Chile and so all of us with calls were sent elsewhere. Some of us went to Ecuador. The mission had just been organized in July 1970 with Louis Latimer as president. I arrived in the country December 23, 1970. That was a Christmas to remember. My first companion, Randy Goff, taught me where every recuerdo shop in Quito was located. Next, Morris Linton taught me all there was to know about being a missionary. Other comps were Lee Long, Bill Hoggland, Greg Landon, Doug Thayne, Elder Castell, Paul Carling (who I got just after the army kicked the crap out of him and Booth in Riobamba) and Bill Chandler.
Since I have been home I married Kristine Cook and we have 4 kids. Jodi - in nursing school, Brent - serving in the New Jersey Morristown Mission, Spanish-speaking, Becky - sophomore in high school and Doug - eighth grade and my right hand man on the farm. We operate 500 acres in and around Idaho Falls. |
