Nelson/Burnley | Companions: Guy Mcwhirter | | Your Occupation: Aerospace Engineer | | Spouse: Diane K. Walter | Comments: I have been in the Army and served as a Russian Linguist. After the military I completed an Engineering Degree and went to work for Boeing. I worked in Seattle for the Commercial Division for 5 years then transferred to Helicopters in Philly and worked on the V22 design team for another 7 years. I was laid off in 1999 and went to work at the Philly Shipyard for Kvarner until I was recalled back to Boeing in mid 2000. I then went to work on Chinook Helicopters. In October of 2004 I took an assignment at Corpus Christi Army Depot and moved my family to a barrier island (Mustang Island) and now reside in Port Aransas, Texas. I am a consulting partner with the government workers providing technical information on Chinook repairs. I have 3 children, a son and 2 daughters. My eldest daughter is married and living in Dover, Delaware. My 2 younger children still live at home, my youngest being my daughter Chelsea who will be 14 this coming August. I am an avid Hot Rodder and have had my Hot Rod Vega featured in the March 2001 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. I drive a Corvette as a daily driver and I enjoy working on my cars for relaxation. I'm serving as the Gospel Doctrine Instructor in the Rockport, Texas Branch and I recently was priveliged to serve as an Usher for the San Antonio Temple. While I lived in the east (a total of 11 years) I became very familiar with all the church historical sites. I even had the opportunity to eat a picnic lunch where Joseph and Emma Smith's cabin once stood in Pennsylvania where 80% of the Book of Mormon was translated. I visited England years ago when I was a soldier in Germany, and I introduced the son of an English brother I baptized to his wife. So I affected 2 generations of that family directly. I've had many life experiences and have lived on all 3 US coasts (Pacific, Atlantic and now Gulf). I'm very appreciative for the training Elder Derrick provided while I was on my mission. It prepared my for a life that has been very full of experience. |
