Comments: My husband is Sanford Porter, who served in the mid-1970s. I am a health services researcher at the Univ of Florida doing social science research such as surveys. My MA is in Communication from the Univ of Texas-Austin.
We visited central Java in 2010, and Sanford got to bear his testimony in Solo. I am trying to learn the language. We read two frames of "Cerita-Cerita Kitab Mormon" every night, which is about my speed:)
One story: When we were raising our children in a too-small student apartment without a dishwasher and having to lug cloth diapers to the laundramat, he would say things like, "I knew a Relief Society president who had twice as many children and lived in a hut the size of our living room, with a dirt floor." That put things in perspective, and he was right. |
