Selamat malam,
Hari yang indah di Jakarta, is it hari yang indah di Provo?
I just returned from 7 days trip with a missionary couple from Lindon Utah who serve in Philippines and Micronesia Asia (E/S Peacock). They came to train us on setting up employment resource center, home gardening and rabbit raising. We hold the 3 days seminars with the employment specialists from Surabaya (Bro/Sister Pramonoadi), Solo (Bro/Sister Sutono), Jakarta Bro/Sister Truman Sirait), and Bro/Sister Edward Meulemans as the Regional Employment Resource Center Director. We will set up an employment office at the Jakarta Selatan chapel. It was very useful training. We hope to set up employment data base, helping people to prepare proper resume and facing interview, building employment network. I know it's a good system, I just hoping that it will work as we expect. One thing I know, that the Lord will always help us if:
1. We keep his commendments.
2. We are willing to work hard
We will release 4 elders on 4 March, they are Elders Christanto, Hamid Rusdi, T. Mulyadi and Boumantoro. I feel sad to release them, knowing that out there the job vacancy is very very limited.
I told them if they want to be Rabbit farmers, I will help them. We will help returned missionarie to be able to drive, speak English and if possible to operate computer. I am optimist for the future of the church and its members. This is the Lord's Church and he will help us if we have done our very best.
One of the branch in Solo has started to have Aaronic Priesthood Holders collect the fast offering from the members' home. The result was overwhelming, even less active members participate it. We hope to implement this idea in all of our branches as much as possible.
We will have the rabbitt at the mission home next week, we will raise it at the back yard, we are building the cages right now. When we hold the rabbit seminars in Jakarta, Malang, Surabaya, and Solo, we always cook the rabbit meat, and have the members tried, they love it. We have an ambition that in the next 2 years when the people of Indonesia talk about rabbit, they will remember the Mormons (not that we multiplied like rabbitt, but we were the one who introduce the rabbitt meat at the society). The governement has tried it to introduce it, but it is unsuccessful. I am confident with our faith , prayer and hard work we will be able to break the barrier. I am asking Dr. Dean Belnap to help me collect scientific information on rabbitt meat, the nutrition content. If any of you can supply me with this information, it will be helful to impress the people and a good marketing tool.
We love you and love the "rabbitt", too. Terima kasih for your prayer and assistance. Sister Hasibuan is seriously ill at the hospital, so right now both she and Bob Hasibuan are in the hospital, please, prayer for them.
Salam kasih,
Subandriyo
