Comments from Brother Juswan Tandiman The special meeting we recently had with the Hinckleys and the Packers was indeed very special to all of us! The expected 1,300 crowd turned out to be more than 1,800!!! Many long-time inactive members showed up and we even had quite a number of non-member passer-bys who decided to sit in the meeting to find out what was going on. Wayne Jones, Frans Lambrechtsen, Janet Kelly and Marcia Dean Jackson (sis. Dean) with her family were the "londo" RMs who came and enjoyed the meeting with ALL of us - what a reunion it was!!! Frans Lambrechtsen even joined the choir at the last minute and did a good job. The choir was just wonderful and heavenly!!! Sis. Diane Pritchett did such an excellent job!!! Pres. & sis. Subandriyo started the program with their testimonies, followed by sis. Packer as the 1st speaker, then pres. Packer spoke for about 20-25 minutes, then sis. Hinckley and her daughter also spoke to us, and finally pres. Hinckley spoke to us very energetically for about 40 minutes. You can find some of the highlights of their talks in the Bekasi Bullettin which Aischa and I prepare every month for our branch. Hope your Indonesian is still functional enough to read the material (it's a good time to re-practice, right?). Our #3 daughter, Priscilla, was one the 4 "lucky" little girls who presented the flower bouquets to the Hinckleys and the Packers as they arrived at the meeting hall. She also had the privilege to sit on pres. Boyd K. Packer's lap, right next to pres. Gordon B. Hinckley, when some pictures were taken by pres. Hinckley's daughter and also his personal secretary during the prayer meeting (we don't know if we will ever get a copy of the picture). Salam, Juswan, Aischa and Family |
