I have attended only one reunion since returning 27 years ago.
I have been recognized and honored in many ways in my career, but those two years remain the best two years of my life.
My wife Melanie and I have been married fifteen years and we have five children together. I have one daughter from a previous marriage, who lived with us for fifteen of her seventeen years.
I teach Sunday School, courses 15 and 16 in my ward.
My career does not lend itself to frequent inspiring moments. It is abrasive.
My testimony remains strong. As a single income family much of my time is spent earning a living and trying not to let too much of what I do come home with me.
I see Elder Waddel in the registry. I speak often of the call I answered from his father late one night in Sicilia. His father was allowed to make the call to say goodbye. He passed away a short time later. I am still inspired every time I think of how Elder Waddel carried himself as he continued to serve as his father requested. I am proud to have served with such men and women among the people of Italy. |
