Presidents: Bin (Tokyo North) Kikuchi (1990 - 1993) | | Served: 1990 - 1991 | Areas Served: Koiwa, Toshima, Kawagoe, Niigata | Companions: Mark V Magleby | | Your Occupation: Mother | | Spouse: Mark | Comments: Within the year after I returned from my mission, I started working at the MTC and met an elder who had also served in the Tokyo North Mission. A year later we married and within the first year, we were able to participate in the BYU Japan Internship Program in Gifu (Nagoya Mission). I did my fieldwork for anrthropology on Japanese faith while working for the Gifu City History Museum and the Gifu Shiyakusho Foreign Affairs Department. Mark commuted to another city to do programming in a shipping company. Our ties to Japan continued when Mark went to work for the American subsidiary of a Japanese company. We have been able to visit Japan with our children, Mariah and Peter, when they were tiny, but we will soon be transferred there with a commitment of at least 3 years. It will definitely give me a chance to use Japanese again and we're excited to watch our children learn to speak Japanese. I certainly had no idea how much my mission would affect my life. |
