A Suggestion Regarding Email Addresses: Especially for Students
Please do not use temporary email addresses for this site. Yes your student email account is only temporary, the pain and suffering will soon end. At present, I have to delete a dozen or more email addresses every quarter because of bouncing email addresses, primarily for addresses such as rm@younameit.edu. I recommend everybody obtaining a free email address, it is quick easy, and mostly painless; Yahoo, Hotmail, , are all reliable and long-lasting email addresses.
For those of you currently using a "Unix based" student account, and wish to receive all your email at one address, the following will setup forwarding from Unix to your shinny new "free" email account (substitute your email address between the quotes):
echo "yournewemail@free_email.com" >.forward
Test that this worked by logging into your free email account and send a message to your student account. Your test email should loop right back and land in your free email inbox. Isn't that cool?
Anyway.... we all have agency to do what we will, but if you avoid using account that are guarenteed to have a short life-span, this site will be more accurate and useful. At present, less then 50% of the Alumni profiles listed have a valid email address. Our Alumni retention rate isn't all that great. :-)
