Unit was mobilized again for Afganistan (16 months) Dec 2003 to April 2005. LDS Group Leader for Bagram Afghanistan, Unit helped with baptism of 2 soldeirs in AFGN. We had up to 100 LDS weekly attendance, allot of RM's (what a site each sunday). Started major Humanitarian Projects. Adopted two remote villages and two orphanages. Sent 11 year old boy (Asadullah) to Unites States (Loma Linda University) for Heart Surgery, one other boy (Naeem) to Austin Texas Heart Surgery. Brought in several children for eye surgery. On our last trip to Jegdalek, the villagers brought out an American flag and flew it for us. Afghanistan was bitter sweet. In doing our job flying Apaches, we had many sad moments. We more than made up for those moments with Humaniatarian projects. Afghanistan Loves America, dont let the news media tell you otherwise. Go to Google.com and type in Jegdalek or Layne Pace for stories about our unit, 1-211 Aviation Regiment (Task Force Pirate). The gospel is spreading east and is impacting the muslim nations. We were called the Muslim Christians by local Afghanistani's. Currently building an Orphanage in Afghanistan see WWW.TAOProject.org - Went back to Afghanistan April-May 2009 as Civillian to find property for orphanage.
