News Item: Nevada Reno Mission forming
Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add News
The LDS Church News reports that the Church has created a Nevada Reno Mission, effective 1 July 2012. It will take territory from both current Nevada missions. The Nevada Las Vegas Mission will lose most of its remaining Nevada territory and all of its Utah territory (although the bulk of missionaries are being taken from the West mission, I am told by the parent of a missionary in the new Reno mission), retaining part of Clark County and its California and Arizona areas.
When the West mission was created in 1997, the era of the Nevada Las Vegas Mission assigning missionaries as far out as Reno or Susanville CA ended. With the new Reno mission, now there will be no more transfers to Elko or Ely. The mission—which once comprised the entire state—will now have more territory in California and Arizona than in Nevada!
