Baso Choro ( Elder Wynn Bartolomew ) and I got to Japan about the same time and we were greenies together in Hiroshima. From his bio and obit, we got married about the same time; had the same number of kids; did advanced degrees and professional careers except I,m blessed to still be working. Just today, I volunteered at the local outreach clinic and filled and pulled a bunch of teeth. Baso's passing caused me to reflect on life and to "count my many blessings". I suck at condolences, so I didn't get around to Emailing anything to his widow. Guess that is one of the many reasons Church callings have not come my way. So, much like Baso, I am better suited to scouting and Ward Clerk and the such. Right now, I am PFR, and team teach Primary with eternal companion. Due to some extensive medical bills we can't afford to retire and go on a mission. But who knows. Life is good. Grandkids are the best! Now they take me skiing and hunting and backpacking etc. Thanks so much for running the NFEM blog. I always open the posts right away, but it is kind of like the military - a distant memory. Keep up the good work. Shimpuson Choro.

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
