Comments:
I went to BYU (1968 to 1973) and got two degrees (BA & MPA), worked at the Missionary Dept. (1975-1981), went to Columbia Law School and got a JD degree (1981-1984), and have been practicing law since, first in New York and then in California (international business and entertaiment/media and sports law). Published a book, "The Movie Business" (Simon & Schuster 2005). I am formerly the bishop of the So. Pasadena Ward and now (2010) in the Stake Presidency.
I was a Komatsu era missionary. My group arrived six months into his mission and left the same week he did. In fact, we stopped by his home for several days on the way back to the main land. I believe that I was the last missionary to serve in Japan who worked on all five of the major Japanese islands (Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Okinawa and Shikoku).

"Obedience is the price, faith is the power, love is the motive, the Spirit is the key, and Christ is the reason." The motto of the Japan Fukuoka Mission can be applied not only to missionary work, but to everyday life. -BYU President Bateman
