Presidents: Hilton A. Robertson [Dec.] (1952 - 1955) | | Served: 1953 - 1955 | Companions: Nancy S. Kochi | Comments: You may be speaking of Irene Tau'a. I believe she served a full-time mission in Japan around the mid 50's. I saw her last around 10 years ago at the Makiki Ward in Honolulu. She didn't seem to be doing too well at that time and was using a cane. Rose Higa
I recently discovered that a Sis. Irene Tau'a lives in a nursing home in our ward. She is 85 years old and suffers memory loss and dementia. I spoke to her on the phone and she seemed to be pretty perky but it gradually became apparent that she has dementia. I tracked down her nephew who also lives in our stake and learned that she served a mission in Japan. Could this be the sister you asked about?
Regarding Meriwell Tau'a--he is Irene's younger brother. He served in Japan about 1967 under Pres. Adney Komatsu. He lives on Maui.
