In the early Spring of 1963, an accident occurred in the home of Taegu Branch President Do, Gil Hwoe.
Their daughter, just a toddler, had pulled a pan of boiling oil off the stove spilling on her bare leg. President Do had been away for several weeks in treatment for his tuberculosis.
His wife, Sister Kim, YoungAe, frantically rushed the howling child to the nearest clinic. The doctors treated the burn and told Sister Kim that so much of the flesh of the leg was deeply burned that the child may not be able to walk or at least she would be severely scarred and crippled for the rest of her life.
Because of the pain, the child could not sleep and was constantly crying.
In the absence of her husband, Sister Kim was beside herself.
A convert to the Church of only a few months, she fervently pleaded with the Lord and was impressed to call the Elders to give her daughter a blessing.
As soon as the child was administered to, she stopped crying and went to sleep.
Six months later when we were visiting their home, President Do thanked us again for our help. He wanted us to see his daughter that was burned.
He called for her and she came running into the room and jumped onto his lap. "See," he said, "not even a scar on her leg! That's the miracle of the Priesthood."
I added, "But, that miracle of the Priesthood was only brought about because of the faith and prayers of your wife." Knowing Sister Kim, we all agreed to that.
