Missionaries can receive money through Zions First National Bank. Be sure to indicate the missionary's full name and the name of the mission to ensure a proper transfer of funds. When the bank receives the money, it is deposited into a Church account. The bank notifies the Missionary Department, who in turn notifies the appropriate mission office, and then funds are dispersed to the missionary. To use this service, send a check to:
ZIONS FIRST NATIONAL BANK
INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE AGENCY 157KB
P. O. BOX 30709
SALT LAKE CITY UT 84130-0709
The charge for this service is $5 per transaction. For additional information, contact Zions First National Bank at 801-524-4858. It is recommended that you send mail through the Pouch, if possible. In your letters to your son/daughter, I would suggest that you use care in discussing any problems that might happen at home. Since he/she is far from home, it would be difficult to help resolve problems that might occur there. Discussing them through letters really does not help, but only distracts and frustrates the missionary and is seldom productive. On the other hand, uplifting experiences shared between missionaries and those at home will help both of you to enjoy and grow from this mission.
Packages may be sent to missionaries through the regular mail system. If you need to send a package make sure to pack it solid so that it does not rattle or shift around. It may also help to put church stickers and/or write "Church Material Enclosed" on the outside. Where it asks to list the items in the package write "Missionary Supplies." In the Panama Mission your son/daughter can purchase most things that are available in the U.S. For clothes or other such necessities, it is recommended to send money so that she can buy them here.
We hope that this information will help you to correspond with your missionary throughout the duration of his/her mission in the best possible manner so that you both can learn and grow from each others experiences.
Sincerely,
President Robert Duffin
Panama, Panama City Mission
