I joined the Idaho Army National Guard as soon I got home from the mission in order to pay for college. I did basic training in FT. Leonard Wood MO. After training I went back to Boise, got a job with UPS and enrolled in Boise State University, home of the 5 time WAC champions and the 2007 Fiesta Bowl champions. During college I married Kendra Jo Botkin from Meridian Idaho in March 2001. I met her through some mutual friends and the institute program. We immediately bought a home near campus and 15 months later in August 2002, we had a son Anson. I graduated in 2004 with a high school teaching degree for Biology and German. Upon graduation I also commissioned as an Army officer and took my family to Ft. Knox Kentucky for 4 months training. We then moved back to Boise and had a daughter, Eden, on 2 March, the day before I deployed to Iraq. I spent most of 2005 in Kirkuk Iraq as an infantry platoon leader. While in Iraq I was hired to teach German at Centennial High in Boise Idaho. I got home and started teaching part time in November 2005. I am still part time with UPS and took a management position in 2006. In Feb 2007 we relocated to a bigger home here in Boise, just in time for child #3 another son, Bo, in March 07, and our fourth child Dax in April 09. |
