SARS News 19 May 2003
Just a note about the SARS scare ... my wife (born and raised in Taipei) recently returned from Taiwan after attending her father's funeral. She informed me of the "scare" that is ongoing to the point that very few people, particularly her mother, even want to leave the house. I'm curious to know whether the church leaders are providing any directives to the members in Taiwan re: food storage (similar to the directives we've been receiving here in the U.S.). It seems as though this SARS scare would be as applicable as any other disaster in terms of food storage, 72-hour kits, etc. I don't recall hearing any direction of other information re: this directed to the saints in Taiwan. While my wife was in Taiwan she encouraged her mom to purchase extra food items for such a purpose. I don't know if the 72-hour kit idea has hit Taiwan but it sounds like it would be very applicable to the situation at hand.
