REFLECTION

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The cover of this Messenger shows us Joseph with the wife of Potifar. (Read in the Bible: Genesis chapter 39.) I have wanted to bring up this subject for your meditation because it is important that each elder and sister remember why they have come during this time of their mission.

It is a sacred time to serve the Lord and to close your heart to other feelings that are not for the work of preaching.

There is a very important lesson in this chapter, compared with the case of King David. Joseph was wise and fled from the wife of Potifar, but David was pleased in seeing the wife of Urias. (2 Samuel 11).

President Kimball spoke to the missionaries during a tour of the missions of Latin America, and he gave a message to them that if any missionary does not take care of his companion, and he falls, both would be judged, because each one must be a guard for his companion. To help him straighten his path, and if he does not heed, speak with your leaders. A good missionary can be a great example and a strength for the Church, but a wayward missionary can do irreparable damage. And there are many examples of these situations in which the missionaries forget whom they represent and why they are here, putting aside the mission rules and damaging the image of all the other missionaries who will come behind him.

Let us meditate on these things, read these writings and make a firm commitment to always be the best.

With much love,
President and Sister Hoffmann

MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANTS

“I declared to the bretheren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any books on the Earth, and the keystone of our religion, and that a man would come closer to God following its precepts than those of any other book. (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith.)

“In order to avoid adopting the bad things of this world, we must feed our minds daily with the things of the spirit, and the best way that I know to do it is to read the Book of Mormon every day. Marion G. Romney.

We must all understand the importance that the Book of Mormon has as the keystone of our religion. We must give account of the role that the Book of Mormon has in the conversion of our investigators, and our conversion.

First we must remember that every day in our schedule we have half an hour to read, to study, and to ponder (totally) the Book of Mormon. But we are doing it? It is so precious a time to read and to meditate on the words of God and to gain or reinforce our testimony more. Second, the Book of Mormon is a most powerful instrument that we have. When we understand and we use the Book of Mormon as we must, we will see more and more people enter the waters baptism. We invite you all to use the time that you have to ponder the Book of Mormon and use it to convert to the world.

We love you very much,
Elder Roberts and Elder León

Subjects from the president

We have noticed with great worry that missionaries are constantly calling to the office to every hour of the day for advice on things that could be solved with their district or zone leaders. These calls cause a distraction to the missionaries who work in the office and constantly interrupt the president. In addition to which they increase the telephone invoices.

From now on, only the district or zone leaders will be able to call the office to solve any problem within their respective districts or zones. Also, they must remember that the missionaries of the office finish their work at 5 PM, when they leave to proselyte.
