Comments:
Ten years goes by fast. My husband found this website. The last time I had looked at our mission website it was sadly out of date. I am glad he did. I have thought often of late about the mission and which area I was in ten years ago.
After the mission I returned to Utah State University pursuing a music education degree. While there I developed friendships with missionaries I had not know on the mission like Elders Mark Krogh and Ephraim Hanks. I graduated in December of 2000. I met my husband Chris in January of 2001, but it took a while for us to get together. I loved the warmth of Brazil and missed it so I determined I would move to warmer climates. Enter into the picture Kristi Fechter now Bencomo who was my companion and lived in Phoenix Arizona. I went to visit her and apply for jobs teaching music. I moved there in August of 2001 convincing Chris to move down shortly thereafter. We got married in March of 2002 in the Logan, Utah temple and spent six wonderful years in the valley of the sun. I taught music for 5 years in an elementary school blocks away from where Sister Fechter grew up. Our daughter Rachel was born in August of 2003. Once again Kristi saved me. She lovingly cared for my daughter while I was teaching. Her children are like siblings to my Rachel (she has 4 and 1/2 kids!). Unexpected changes have brought us back to Utah to be part my in-laws business (see the website). We miss Phoenix, Kristi's family and the Diamondbacks intensely. I felt so guilty taking Rachel away from Kristi, because I felt like I was stealing one of her children. It has been a hard and trying change for our family. Knowing that it is what we need to do has given us the strength to do it. If you live in the area please get in touch with me.
