I recently (July 25, 2000 - August 8, 2000) traveled with my wife to pick up one of my sons, who had just completed a mission to the Sweden Stockholm Mission. After a pleasant week touring Sweden, we travelled to Hamburg. After picking up a car, we visited Berlin and the World Expo at Hannover. (By the way, there was no pavillion, booth or even a bulletin board from the USA.) We visited Berlin and saw how they are completely rebuilding the City. We got to visit the Pergamon and see the Ishtar Gate and quaff a "fastbrause" (like Martinelli sparkling apple cider). We went to church in Stadthagen, it was almost 30 years after I served there, and were told that Brother Bocherding was now the temple president at the Frankfurt temple. We visited Pres. and Sister Bocherding and spent a very good session in the temple. After a great day spent in Frankfurt shopping, we flew home. All in all, a very memorable trip. We have had a certain young sister visit from Sweden... but that's another story! |
