Kent Boyd from Bountiful was tall, handsome, competent, and a good leader. He came from a family that had some challenges. He later became second counselor to President Andersen before he went home.
Norman Kent Boyd (Northern Far East Mission 1960-63) passed away on September 13, 2008, in his home in New Market, Maryland after a long illness. He was born on February 3, 1941. On his mission, he served as a Traveling Elder and in 1963 as an Assistant to President Andersen. After returning to his home to Salt Lake City, he graduated from the University of Utah in philosophy and later received a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Maryland. He is survived by his father, Frank E. Boyd, his wife Brenda, and son Jason. Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Brenda Boyd, 7153 Masters Rd., New Market, MD 21774.

Note: I remember with fondness the many days I spent as Elder Boyd's companion. In addition to working out of the Mission Home and preparing the new lesson plan for publication, we traveled to several branches in the mission and saw the good work that many of you were doing. Kent always had a smile and a good word for everyone. We will miss him dearly.
