We lived in Japan prior to my mission, and close remaining friends from those days include John Chase, Bryant Wadsworth, Jay Inouye & the Watabe family (Masao, Masahisa, Masaji, Masakazu & Masasue etc.) Fond memories include watching Kent Shiozawa roping. I now make my living as a Japanese translator.
I remember the Fukuhara family, which later moved to Sapporo from Asahigawa in abt 1962 or so. Their son had a tumor the size of a baseball, and was threatened with death. Brother Fukuhara asked Elder David LeGrand Olsen and the rest of us to give his son a blessing. I believe Elder Olsen was voice. The boy completely recovered within a few short days, and the tumor was gone.
We live in Martinsburg, WV. My wife (Bonnie Babbel) was the Stake RS president while I served on the High Council.
After our release Bonnie has remained involved in RS related callings. I am currently the Ward Employment specialist
in the Mill Creek Ward.
We are in the Washington DC temple district. President Belliston is the Mission President over an area that includes Parts of Maryland, Va, W V and Penn. We reside in the Martinsburg WV Stake, set up by Pres Uchtdorf about 7 years ago. Our Stake Pres Steven C. Grow.
I remain in close contact with our mutual friend John Chase. |
