Ty Hirschi

William Tyrol Hirschi, 26, of Wisdom, Mont., formerly of Salem, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, in Missoula, Mont., of injuries from a horse accident.

He was born Sept. 14, 1977, in Rexburg, the first child of Bill and Denese Hirschi. He was joined by two brothers and a sister.

He attended school in Terreton for two years and then attended schools in Sugar-Salem where he graduated in 1995. During the summer months of his high school years he lived in Jackson, Mont., working on the Dick Hirschy Ranch.

He went to Ricks College in Rexburg for a year, then served a mission for the LDS Church in the Oklahoma City Mission. He loved the people and they loved him. After his mission, he graduated from Ricks College in 1999 and then went to the University of Idaho in Moscow where he met the love of his life, Cece Rider. They were married June 2, 2001, in Kilgore and their marriage was solemnized Feb. 15, 2003, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

They both graduated from the University of Idaho in 2002, and moved to Wisdom, Mont.,to work on the Hirschy Ranches. He loved animals especially horses and dogs. He loved working cattle with his family. He broke horses and loved riding. He was proud of his father's cowboy poetry and learned to recite them at private parties. He even wrote a few of his own.

He was active in the LDS Church branch in Jackson, where he was serving as executive secretary and Young Men's teacher and was a faithful home teacher.

Everyone old and young loved Ty. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and his dog, Kip.

He is survived by his wife, Cece; parents, Bill and Denese Hirschi of Rexburg; in-laws, Robert and Linda Rider of Coeur d'Alene; siblings, Jed Hirschi of Tuscarora, Nev., and Taelon (Melissa) Hirschi and Amanda Hirschi, both of Rexburg; sisters-in-law, Sharla (Steve) Wilson of Coeur d'Alene and Cassy Rider of Boise; a nephew, Jay Wilson of Coeur d'Alene; grandparents, David and Virgene Hirschi of Rexburg, Lyle and Jossine Saurey of St. George, Utah, and Betty Rider of Coeur d'Alene.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Salem LDS Church with President Scott C. Olsen of the Jackson LDS Branch, officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Kilgore Cemetery.
