Choices 02 Mar 2004
Amen to Brian Strong's comment! We can choose whatever we want. If you choose to watch a movie rated R, so be it. If you choose not to, so be it. Whatever our choices be, there are reactions to it. To be wise, one should look at the possible reactions of our actions, then make the choice.

As for me and my house, I have set my standard that I shall not watch a movie rated R, and carefully decide on all other movies and forms of entertainment I watch and participate in.

Whatever your choices be, I do not condemn or think evil of you. We all are God's children. We all are on this earth to learn and become like Him and His Son, Jesus the Christ. It's not easy, but we're all in this together. Good luck!

I feel that everyone has to make thier own choices in life, but I also know from personal experiense that "R" is "R"...the church has and will continue to put out wonderfull videos about Jesus Christ.

If President Hinkley feels that this video is an exception to the "R" standard I am sure that he will send a letter to the local leaders. In the mean time I will continue to avoid "R" rated movies. We all know that Satan likes to bend the rules....lets not help him.

Betts, you're right buddy. I knew i taught you something. I don't care if people go and see it either, I just don't think that people should be closed minded about it and try to be self-righteous and preach to people not to see it, and whoever Chet Welch is, I don't know you, but you kind of sound like a moron, but that was a cute thing to say about President Hinkley standing in line for a movie, and hey, who knows, maybe he was, "The Best 2 Years" just came out. Haha. Peace out Betts

Can anyone hear the scipture, 2nd Nephi 28:21....And others will he apacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.
We counsel you, young men, not to pollute your minds with such degrading matter, for the mind through which this filth passes is never the same afterward. Don't see R-rated movies or vulgar videos or participate in any entertainment that is immoral, suggestive, or pornographic. Don't listen to music that is degrading. By Ezra T. Benson

Granted President Benson has passed on, but I think it is kind of hard to get around exact words of a Prophet of God. Also do you think President Hinkley was in line this weekend to see this movie....I think he would shudder at the thought...as should you. ;)

I'll be the first to say that most r-rating movies are pieces of crap and aren't worth your time, I'd say that about most pg-13 movies too. But the church encourages us to avoid inappropriate movies, not rated-r movies. A movie portraying the suffering that Christ went through for mankind isn't something that should be censored or rejected. It doesn't glorify violence or encourage it. It simply tells the story how it happens. If a person chooses not to see the movie, I can respect that. It is your choice to make. Just don't let the Motion Picture Association of American make the decision for you.

Well the Church puts out some good movies depicting the pain and suffering that Christ went through. Why not just stick to those and steer clear of the R rated flicks?

Just was gonna let everyone know I went and saw the new movie "The Passion of the Christ", and it is an amazing movie. Of course, there could have been more about the garden of gethsemane, but it was a well shot movie, and a wonderful depiction of Christ. You should all go and see it. Peace out. J

Online Dict. 25 Feb 2004
Hey, I went ahead and added about 250 words. (I would do more, but I got tired.) Unfortunately, about 50 of those words were done before I learned that you have to put a definition in the ENGLISH area for the word to be looked up by an english word. So, for about 50 of the words it's a Tagalog-English dictionary, instead of a T-E, E-T.
Sorry, I would go back and fix it, but I cannot for the life of me remember which words I did that to.

Update 23 Feb 2004
I was wondering if anyone has heard anything new about Pres. Gaviola coming over for conference. If he is we should really get something together for a reunion. Steve Hiatt has done a lot and I think he deserves a break since he will be having a baby right aroung that time. If people are willing lets get something going.

I wanted update everyone about the family. Harley is doing great, she turned 2 in December. If you want to see pictures Kiddie Kandids is using her for their advertising. Go to www.kiddiekandids.com and click on the "Dreams of Tuscany" She is the little girl on the left side in the blue dress (two pictures). Eliza will be 6 months old on Feb. 29th. She is sitting on her own and rolling all over the place. She smiles everytime you look at her and is just a great kid. All is well in the Crabb home and we wish you all the same.

New Online Dictionary 16 Feb 2004
I just added an online Tagalog dictionary to the site. Look under the Links section. If you enter a word, it will automatically search for the root of the word. Users can add and modify entries. There is also create links page where you can enter text and it will automatically create links for each word so that you can read through and click on words you don't know to do a lookup. It doesn't have very many words yet, but if everybody uses it and adds words that they don't find, then it should have a large number of words soon. The interface is still a little rough, I plan on making a few improvements on the root word lookup, and there still may be a few bugs, but I think it will be a usefull tool.
